Iowa City Intergroup Meeting Minutes

Jerry chaired the meeting. October minutes were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

Submitted by Ed M. Balance before payment of expenses is $343.81. Pager and phone bills will be paid. Monthly expenses are a little over $100; phone is $100 per month and pager is $20-22 for two or three months.

Old Business:

• Sean has the pager now. Jerry will ask the Thursday night By the Book group to take it for the month.
• Barb M. is attempting to rectify the overpayment for the Intergroup website. She will submit a bill for reimbursement for the correct amount and reimburse past web master. It was moved and passed unanimously to pay the bill when she submits it.
• New Years Eve Party:

Pete volunteered to do the flyer. When speakers are confirmed Susan will advise Pete of the details. Decided to ask Sybil from AA and Sam from Al-Anon. We will include a “plea” or reminder on the flyer for groups to continue to support Intergroup financially. Will have two floods of flyers going out – the first to be distributed the weekend of November 18 and the second sometime in December. Intergroup will provide meat/cheese and veggie trays; Hors D’oeuvres, Snack, and Dessert potluck for the rest.

· 6:30 – 8:00 Social Hour

· 8:00 – 8:30 Speaker

· 8:30 – 9:00 Speaker

· 9:00 – 10:00 Talent Show (10 minutes max per person)

· 10:00 – Dance

· Steve C. donating sound equipment; Annie E. will prepare a party shuffle on her computer. Will include her e-mail address on flyer to take requests beforehand. No requests at the party. First few songs will be slow and danceable for the older crowd who may wish to leave early.

· Suggested donation of $4.00 per person, and a basket will be passed.

· Childcare available during the speakers. Will hire two sitters.

· Sean will coordinate a sign-up for jobs. Need volunteers to host, work the tables and beverages, and set up and clean up.

· Discussed having something for the kids.

· Jerry expressed the importance of decorating so it truly is a special event. Even offered to purchase decorations personally, which led to discussion of a budget.

New Business:

• Blue Noon is listed twice on the meeting schedule. The 6:00 p.m. listing is incorrect and needs to be deleted. Susan will notify Barb.
• There was a brief discussion on printing our own meeting schedules again and having them available to the groups. It was tabled for further discussion after we learn of District’s plans.

The meeting adjourned at 11:20.
