District Report:

Submitted by Sean W.

No report.  District meeting was canceled again due to weather.

Beeper Report:

Submitted by Sean W.

Sean has the beeper and will get it to Eric within the next few days.  He will also work on updating the menÕs 12th Step call list.  Tim still has the binder; Sean will get it before passing the beeper on to Eric.  Must stress the importance of passing along the binder with the pager.  Realized we have a large Hispanic population and we need to be prepared to take calls from Spanish speaking callers.  Perhaps a note in the binder in Spanish saying the person does not speak Spanish but will have someone who does call him/her back.  We will try to identify Spanish-speaking 12th Step AA members.  Ask at the groups.  Barb will do a free Yahoo translator for the website.

Web Page Report:

Submitted by Barb M.

Needs to remove the New YearÕs Eve party flyer from the website.  Has not yet posted Intergroup elections at February meeting but will do so.

Group Reports:

á      Thursday Night Big BookÑMargaret is the alternate rep.  Good attendance and good fellowship with dinner afterwards.  Hopes to have permanent rep next month.

á      Sunday Morning Together We Can Make ItÑSteady attendance.  Sitter is showing up.

á      Sunday Night LGBTÑFine.  Nothing new to report

á      Monday Night Big Book and Saturday Night 12 & 12ÑRegular attendance.

á      Tuesday Night BaptistÑGood attendance.  Parking continues to be a problem.  Babysitting.

á      Midwest GroupÑElections will be held on 1/20.

á      Friday Night WomenÕs Big BookÑGood attendance.  Babysitter.

á      MelroseÑEverything is quiet.  Group Conscience will be held on 1/19.

Old Business:

á      ArchivesÑIn JerryÕs garage, some at Melrose, and some with Tim.  Decided to meet next Saturday at Uptown BillÕs at 10:30 a.m. and whoever wants to help is welcome.  Barb volunteered.

á      New YearÕs Eve Party was a success.  Good attendance, good music mix, and there was lots of dancing.

New Business

á      Hope House requested schedules.  Sean will get schedules from Tim and give to the Hope House.  Margaret suggested they simply print them off the web so they always have the most current schedule.

á      Jerry suggested a useful visual aidÑa list of groups with the Intergroup repsÕ names and phone numbers.  He volunteered to do this.  He also suggested Intergroup do a newsletter perhaps twice per year.  Becky had mentioned her willingness to do this at one time, so we will ask her at the Friday Night WomenÕs meeting.

á      It was noted that there has not been any representation from Blue Noon.  Since it is such a strong group, we will encourage them to elect a rep.

á      Larry asked if Intergroup would be interested in hosting a hospitality room at Aim for Ames.  Melrose did it last year, and very few Melrose folks came but many other Iowa City AAs did.  Jerry felt it was not a function of Intergroup since it was not held in our city.  Wondered if we would be showing favoritism and where we would draw the line on other conferences.  Barb remembered a conference held at the Sheraton years ago and wondered what it was.  It was most likely the Area Conference.

á      Discussed whether it was necessary to have an Activities Chair for Intergroup.  The consensus was that itÕs been working fine with volunteers.

á      Jerry passed out the AA Guidelines pamphlet concerning central or intergroup offices.

á      We must generate interest in group representation and elections.

The meeting adjourned at 11:30.m.

Respectfully submitted by Susan H.
