District Report:
Submitted by Sean W.
The district meeting was at 511 Melrose. There were twelve GSRs present at the meeting. Tracy, our DCM, will attend the Regional Fall Conference which is September 17th in Omaha. There is an upcoming Fall workshop about sponsorship at Hills Community Building on November 3rd. Newsletter and archives positions are open for service opportunities. The beginning balance for July was $780 dollars and with 124 dollars in expenses as well as $114 in donations, the ending balance was $568 excluding the $200 prudent reserve. The expenses were a $98 dollar reimbursement to Tracy for travel to the Area conference and Beth received $24 for renewing the Grapevine subscription. The next District meeting is on August 26th at 212 Walnut.
Web Page Report:
Submitted by Barb M.
Barb received an email sent to the webmaster from Tom C. with a copy sent to Erin B. stating that the Mapquest links on the schedule do not work. Suggested using Google maps instead. Barb made the change this morning. Barb reminded everyone to let her know if you ever see anything that is not right on the website.
Old Business:
á Edward
stated that the $20 per month rent we approved in last monthÕs meeting was
excessive for one hour per month.
Asked that we reconsider this amount and suggested $5 per month. After discussion, Barb made a motion to
pay $10 per month rent to Uptown BillÕs.
Annie seconded, and motion carried.
á Voice
mail: Checked for messages two
weeks ago. The recorded schedule
on the voice mail has not been updated.
Sean will compare the current schedule with the voice mail recording,
and update as necessary. He will
also change the recording to answer the call ÒAlcoholics AnonymousÓ rather than
ÒDistrict 13 IntergroupÓ since it may confuse callers when they expect to get
AA.
á 12th
Step Call List: Annie has not
completed the updating. Since she
is moving to Ames, Barb volunteered to update the womenÕs list. Tim H. was updating the menÕs list and
the status of that is unknown.
á 12th
Step Panel Workshop: About 15
attendees. Went a little over two
hours. Collected $14 in the
basket, which did not cover the expenses but is okay since IntergroupÕs intent
was to provide the training opportunity.
If the workshop is held again, recommend three panelists and allow more
time. Annie made a motion to
contribute $20 to Uptown BillÕs for the use of the space during the
workshop. Barb seconded, and the
motion carried.
á Pager: MenÕs Group has it for another week;
Scott is carrying it. Sean will
take it for the following week.
Sean thought August could be covered with various individuals but
suggested that we ask our groups to start rotating months, noting in particular
the Saturday Wild BillÕs, Blue Noon, and the Friday WomenÕs Step Groups.
á Archives: Sean said nothing has been done.
New Business:
á
Larry said that Rick W. in his position as District
Corrections Chair is actively seeking volunteers and making sure the jails and
prison meetings are covered.
á
Brian reminded the group that the Monday 8:00 p.m.
MECCA meeting needs support as well.
á
Annie invited all to spread the word about her going
away potluck at City Park August 12 from 2:00-7:00 p.m.
á
The Monday Night Big Book Group is looking at starting
another meetingÑperhaps a 12 & 12 Step Meeting.
á
Brian reminded the group that New YearÕs Eve is
4½ months away. Start
thinking about it.
The meeting adjourned at 11:30.m.
Respectfully submitted by Susan H.
